What we collect
We collect information you provide in applications, requests, accounts and profiles, including contact details, location, availability, work history, qualifications, transportation, preferences, profile photographs and verified ratings. We ask only whether you have a valid SIN; never enter your SIN number on this website.
Why we use it
We use information to operate profiles, match workers with legitimate farm work, process applications, connect farmers and workers, verify work relationships, administer ratings, respond to privacy requests, maintain service integrity and meet legal obligations.
Profiles and contact information
Profiles are optional. Direct phone numbers and email addresses are not displayed publicly. Workers may immediately deactivate a profile from the profile page; a deactivated profile will not be shared for new opportunities.
Verified ratings
Rating links are issued only for verified work relationships. Employers must confirm that they hired, employed or directly supervised the worker. Workers may request access to rating information and dispute an inaccurate or unfair rating. Verification information may be retained to investigate a dispute.
Consent and email updates
Profile consent and optional email-update consent are separate. You may unsubscribe or withdraw consent by contacting us. Withdrawal does not apply where continued use or retention is required or permitted by law.
Access, correction, disputes and deletion
You may request access to personal information BC Farmwork controls about you, ask us to correct an error or omission, dispute a rating, or request deletion of your profile. Some records may need to be retained temporarily for legal, dispute-resolution or legitimate business purposes.
Retention
Information used to make a decision directly affecting someone may be retained for at least one year so that person can access it. Other personal information is destroyed or de-identified when it is no longer needed for its original purpose or for legal or legitimate business purposes.
Security and service providers
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, modification or disposal. Providers supporting hosting, authentication, storage and email may process information only as needed to provide those services.
Contact the privacy officer
Davin Tannahill is responsible for BC Farmwork's privacy compliance. Send access, correction, deletion and rating-dispute requests to info@bcfarmwork.ca. Identify the profile or application and the action requested. Do not send your SIN number.
